Team Staff Profile - Ronald Bloomberg
(W1) Michigan State University
Ron grew up playing pond hockey in Battle Creek Michigan, before there were indoor rinks. As a parent involved in the local hockey association, he was recruited into coaching in the early 1990s where he became an assistant or head coach for teams at every level through AA Travel and the Spring High School program. Responsibilities during these years also included organization of off season hockey camps.
Ron has attained his USA Level 3 coaching certification, and also holds a USA Level 3 referee certification. Off the ice Ron is an attorney with Miller Canfield, specializing in the regulation of public utilities.
Eagerly accepting Coach Wilson’s invitation to join the MSU Women’s program in 2005, Ron is now into his 4th season with the team. His main areas of focus include offensive strategies and positioning, effective practice development and maintaining optimal game/bench management. Ron’s attitude is refreshing: “I am always amazed at the players’ skill, dedication, and work-ethic. I love to see them continue to develop, both individually and as a team. We have a great ‘family’. I hope that I inspire the players to get involved in coaching.”
