Michael Robinson

 

Coach Robinson a native of Long Island, NY is entering his fourth season at the helm of Cornell's ACHA Division 1 Men’s Program. As a goalie Michael enjoyed a successful hockey career at the high school, travel, and collegiate levels...


   Following 2 years of playing at the collegiate varsity level he hung up the skates to focus more on his academics. Pursuing a background in psychology & sport sciences at Hofstra University Coach Robinson spent time with the Athletic Training Program participating in the Clinical Program as a trainer at the collegiate & high school level with both men’s and woman’s athletics. Drawing on the clinical aspect of the program he gained more valuable hockey experience as a medical trainer with the FDNY Ice Hockey Team as well as earning a selection to work with the Scholastic Girls Ice Hockey Tournament during the Summer Empire State Games held on Long Island.

 Beginning his competitive coaching career with the prestigious Long Island Gulls Organization, he worked with a variety of travel teams ranging from Mites through Midgets. In 2004 Coach Robinson earned a Tier 1 NY State Championship as an Assistant Coach with the LI Gulls Bantam Major AAA team. Prior to taking over Cornell program he has also spent time coaching elite level travel hockey with the Connecticut Yankees Hockey Club as well as the Mid Fairfield Blues and Syracuse Nationals Organizations.

 
  Michael
 is currently a USA Hockey CEP Level 5 Master Certified Coach and has attended advanced coaching schools in both the U.S. and Canada. In addition to heading the Cornell program he is also involved with the NY State Player Development Program as an evaluator as well as the director of hockey development for the J.M. McDonald Complex in Cortland.
