2013-2014 ACHA Men's Division 1 Pre-Season Ranking

MINOT STATE BEAVERS LOOK TO REPEAT AS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

UNION LAKE , MIMinot State University, the defending ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions, received 26 out of 31 first-places votes to come in as this years pick for the top spot in the 2013-2014 ACHA Men's Division 1 Pre-Season Ranking.  Arizona State University received 3 first-place votes and came in at #2.  Lindenwood University, which has now played in five of the last six Men's Division 1 National Championship games, winning twice, came in at #3, while Adrian College received a first-place vote and took the #4 spot. 
Ohio University, 4-time winners of the Murdoch Cup, the trophy given to the ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Champions, rounds out the top 5. 

The rest of the top 10 are #6 Oklahoma, #7 Illinois, #8 Robert Morris Illinois, #9 Iowa State, and #10 Davenport.  #11 Delaware received the other first-place vote.

Over the past eleven seasons, 9 different schools have won the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship: Lindenwood (2), Illinois (2), Davenport, Delaware, Minot State, Oakland, Ohio, Penn State, and Rhode Island.

Beginning its 23rd season of action, there have been a total of 11 schools that have won the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship:

58 teams will compete for this year's title, including four new teams.  The University of Colorado and Colorado State University have moved up from Men’s Division 2, while Wayne State University moves up from Men’s Division 3.  Also joining the fray is Rochester College, a new team located in Rochester, MI.  The University of Rochester has dropped out of Men’s Division 1.

The first ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, September 27, 2013.

The 2014 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 6-11 by the University of Delaware at the Fred Rust Ice Arena in Newark, DE. This will be the third year of the 20-team format.
