ACHA Division 3 Selects Team Announced...

The American Collegiate Hockey Association is proud to announce the inaugural roster and staff for the DIII Select Team traveling to Europe in December 2010.  The selection process took some time to ensure we had the very best available players from each Region represented.  The ACHA would like to thank Jon LaRochester (Farmingdale State University, ECHC), Sean Weaver (University of Central Florida, South Independent), Justin Berger (California University of Pennsylvania, CHE), Ben Hammock (Salisbury University, BRHC), Chris Van Timmeren (Hope College, MCHC), Scott Solomon (University at Albany, Select Team GM), Nate van Niejenhuis (ACHA DIII VP, NCCHA), and Rick Kaminski (ACHA DIII Commissioner) for their hard work in this process. Many of the final decisions were made based on the invaluable feedback of all the Coaches and General Managers who provided insight on players via email and phone calls.

The All-Star Challenge served as a tremendous opportunity for the staff of the Select Team to see over 250 players.  The overall decision was not based solely on the events of that weekend but rather the total body of work of each player.  The selection committee met in West Chester during the Challenge, again in Naples at the Annual ACHA Meeting, and had countless conference calls to discuss team personnel.

In the end, the roster was finalized and the players were notified over the past few weeks.  All of the players below have accepted their invitation to play on the inaugural Select Team. These players, along with the staff, will be headed to Europe to play a five game showcase tour in Switzerland, Austria and Germany.  Further details on the trip will be announced early in the fall.

The team's staff includes:

To those players that were not selected, the selection committee would like to thank you for your interest in the inaugural ACHA DIII Select Team.  Please know that the selection processes was very difficult and although we are very confident in the abilities of all 25 players selected, we know there are tremendously talented players not participating this year.  Additionally, please keep in mind that this is not an All-Star Team but rather a Select Team, the difference being that it was a conscience choice to make sure each area of the country was represented.  This made the decisions even harder.  If you participated in the All-Star Challenge, we hope that, that experience was worth taking the trip to West Chester by itself and for those that are underclassman, we truly hope you attend again in two years for another chance to been seen.  For those upperclassmen, we are deeply sorry that you will not have have another chance to showcase your abilities on a Select Team but we want to wish all of you the best of luck in the coming season and in whatever you choose to do after.  Thank you all once again for taking part in this process and please continue to follow the Select Team updates throughout the first semester.
