INDUCTION WILL BE FRIDAY, APRIL 30 IN NAPLES, FL

Will McMahon has been elected into the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Hall-of-Fame as the lone player of the Class of 2010.  He will join Doug Waack (Builder) as the two inductees for the Class of 2010.  The induction ceremony will be held Friday, April 30, 9:00 PM in the Immokalee Room at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club in Naples, FL. The Hall of Fame celebration is co-sponsored by USA Hockey.

Will, a forward for the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies from 2002-2007, becomes the 2nd player to be inducted into the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Hall-of-Fame.  Will scored 238 goals and 142 assists for a total of 380 points during his career.  He helped lead the Grizzlies to three ACHA National Championships (2004 & 2006 in Men’s Division 2, 2007 in Men’s Division 1).  During his career, Will was named ACHA Men’s Division 2 Player-of-the-Year three times and once as the ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Player-of-the-Year.  Will is the only player to win the ACHA Player-of-the-Year Award in both Men’s Division 1 and 2.

In the 2005-2006 season, Will tallied 74 goals and 42 assists for a total of 116 points.  During his final year with the Golden Grizzlies, Will was tied for the most goals in ACHA Men’s Division 1 with 47 and in points with 76.  He scored 8 goals and 4 assists in the 2007 ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Tournament, including a 4 goal, 1 assist effort to lift the Golden Grizzlies 5-1 over Penn State in the National Championship Game.  Will was named National Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2004 (Men’s Division 2) and 2007 (Men’s Division 1) and also was the Golden Grizzlies team Most Valuable Player four times.  Will still holds Oakland University records in all major scoring categories, and his jersey (18) is the only jersey retired by the Oakland University hockey team.

Will signed a contract with the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League and made his professional debut on April 7 against Muskegon, garnering an assist in his only professional game.

Will graduated from Oakland University with a B.S. in Accounting and entered the hockey team’s front office staff during the 2009-2010 season as the General Manager.  Will works at Baker Tilly, a mid-west regional accounting firm, and specializes in assurance for the construction and real estate industries.  He is currently pursuing his CPA license.  Will currently resides in Shelby Twp, MI , and his younger brother, Kyle, also played for Oakland University from 2007-2010.
